Parable of the Prodical's Son

Hello and welcome back to Miss. Cellaneous Life. Today, as you very well may know, is Sunday. And as said in the description, I am going to talk about faith. This week, specifically, will center around my favorite parable: The Parable of the Prodical's Son, or The Parable of the Two Lost Sons.

This parable is found in Luke chapter 15. It starts out with Jesus saying: " There was a certain man who had two sons ". The younger of the two asked the father to give him his share of the property. The father gave it to him. Later, the son runs off to a distant country and spends all his money on foolish luxury.

When the money was all gone, a famine came over the country. He got hired to feed pigs, but was fed nothing. After he came to his senses he said to himself " What a fool I am! Here I am, starving to death, when most of my father's servants are fed well and have food to spare! I know what I'll do, I'll go to my father and say ' Father, I have sinned against you and against God. I am no longer worthy to be called your son, make me one of your servants. '" so he got up and left

When he was still a long ways away, his father saw him and ran to hug and kiss his son. " My son! He was dead and now is alive again. He was lost but now is found. " He said. " Father, " The son started out " I have sinned against you and God. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. " But the father turned to his servants and said " Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on my son. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Take the fattened calf and kill it. "

Later, the older son heard the music and laughter. He asked a servant what was going on. " Your brother has come. Your father has killed the fattened calf to celebrate " The servant said. But the older son refused to go in. His father pleaded to him. " I have always been here and never have disobeyed you orders. But when this son of yours who ruined you and disrespected you comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him. You have never once given me a goat to have with my friends. " The son complained. His father said. " Because you're always here. All I have is yours. This is a time to be merry, because your brother was dead, but is now alive again. He was lost, but now is found."

But you see, the older son himself was lost. He always did good, but he never repented from his sins. He never thought he did a thing wrong in his life. There will be more rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner who repents than 99 semi-perfect people.

Note: Parables are fictional stories, but that doesn't mean that the whole Bible is fiction. Jesus lived, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross for OUR sins. Because he loves us.

Bye!
